The one where we go bar hopping

TWO locations in ONE evening: yes, please! At first, we met at the renowned La Xampanyeria in Barceloneta and then walked over to the La Luna bar in the neighbourhood of El Born.

It’s Sí-internships’ monthly tradition to meet up with all interns they have placed in Barcelona. The meeting is always a great opportunity to get to know each other and exchange all of the adventures everyone experiences in the city while enjoying some food and beverages.

We decided to start off our evening at La Xampanerya. The traditional bar is located in the heart of the old fisherman’s neighbourhood of Barceloneta, It was founded in 1969 and, over the years, has turned into a must-see for tourists. Yet, locals also love to go there to enjoy some cavas as well as an assortment of sandwiches and tapas. When we walked into the bar we immediately thought: something is different! And indeed, the bar is very peculiar: there are no chairs so all customers are actually standing while drinking and eating. We shared a bottle of rosé cava and some cheese and were catching up with each other.

After about an hour we switched locations and walked from Barceloneta to El Born, the neighbourhood right next to it. La Luna is very cozy and decorated in a rustic way that has a feel-good atmosphere to it. We were offered a comfortable table and had sangrias and cocktails as well as some tasty tapas.

Some of us had already been to the La Luna bar for our intern meeting in January where we had met each other for the first time. Therefore, it was time to reminisce about how nervous and excited we were back then. Everything was new to us since we had only been in the city for a few days and were starting to slowly getting settled in Barcelona. It was a weird feeling to look back as, on the one hand, it felt like we have been here forever because so much has happened in the meantime, yet, on the other hand, time has flown by, since there is always so much to do and see when living in this city.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday! We’re excited for May’s intern meeting with all of you!
